Have you ever held back from shining bright as the woman God has called you to be?

I will confess. I am guilty. Now don't get me wrong I have never denied Jesus in front of others. But I have held back being who I am in Christ because of others.

You will meet people that will think you think your better than them because you are a believer in Christ. They won't even take time to get to know you before they make a decision they don't like you. Some people won't like you no matter how nice you are to them.

Some people want nothing to do with Jesus Christ. Here's the truth. They need Him even if they don't know it.

You know what He has done for you right? I want you to think about how He has changed your life. I know you want that for everyone you meet.

You may be tempted to dim your the light when you are around certain people. It may even happen when you are around other believers who are struggling.

They are the ones who need you to shine even more!

Jesus said in Matthew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

What if you were on a camping trip in the woods and you and your friends got lost? The sun went down and it was pitch black. You all start hearing the typical nighttime noises you would expect in the wilderness.

Then you reach into your backpack and pull out that spare flashlight you thought you might need. If you are like me you are always thinking, " Just in case"

You turn it on and suddenly you are everyone's best friend. They are willing to follow you because they are lost and you are showing them the way.

You my friend are a light in this dark world. You and I are here to show people The way. His name is Jesus Christ. Don't worry about the ones who won't listen. Pray for them. Pray for God to send another believer in their path. I have seen Him do it! Keep shining bright. Some people may think you are too much. It's okay!

1 Peter 2:9,10 says, "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

I would rather be walking in the confidence of Christ and shining bright in this dark world than worrying about the opinions of others wouldn't you?

My 4 tips for shining bright and not allowing others to dim your light are:

1. Be consistent in spending time with God in prayer and Bible study.

2. Spend time with like minded people who are not afraid to shine.

3. Be more concerned with the eternal destination of others than their opinion.

4. Don't compare your calling to someone else's

Until next time, be blessed and shine bright
