“Lord Help Me Not To Be A Hero”
We are not called to be heroes. Pointing people to Christ is the calling of every believer. We should have a desire to see people transformed by the power of God. If you have experienced salvation through Jesus Christ, then you are probably nodding your head and agreeing with me.
When we put our confidence in what Christ has done in us and not anything we have done we can share with everyone God places in our path.
We need to make sure we don't become their Hero or take credit for the good things God does in their life.
There is nothing wrong with being a mentor and encouraging others in their walk with Christ. But I want to warn you to be careful not to get your confidence from the growth you see in them and don't let them put you on a pedestal.Paul warned the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians chapter 3 they were acting out of envy and strife by saying "I am of Paul", and " I am of Apollos"
Paul and Apollos were ministers that God used to share the gospel message.
Paul said, "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything , nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor."
Friends we are all working together and on the same team. We don't need to worry about how many people are seeing our social media posts or hearing our podcasts. God is using us to share HIS message with each person he has
placed in our path whether in person or online.
We don't want to get our confidence from how many people hear it or tell us they love listening to us. It's easy to get caught up in that flattery. We don't need to take credit for anything God does in anyone's life because it's ALL GOD. Even if we speak kind words, do good deeds, and share the Gospel it has nothing to do with anything we did. It is the power of the gospel at work in us.
We can be humbled that He would use us to be part of His plan with those He places in our path.
Pray this with me:
🌿 Thank you Lord for another day with breath in my lungs. Help me to live each day in a way that honors You. Help me to love and serve those around me. Give me eyes to see people the way you do. May the work I do further your kingdom and point people to you. Help me bring glory to your name and not mine. May I live out your purpose for my life bravely and with perseverance. Help me walk in freedom and victory because of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Thank you for loving me and allowing me to receive mercy and grace to share with others. I pray that I would be an encourager to my brothers and sisters that are also spreading the message of Jesus Christ. I pray we won't be puffed up or jealous of one another. Lord help me use the gifts and calling I have for your glory alone. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.🌿
Remember, we are not heroes. We are soldiers in the army of The Lord.
